How To Disable the Search Box in the Taskbar

Windows 10 comes with Cortana, a wonderful assistant that could make your Windows experience a lot easier, since it’s able to help you with most things, and you can even ask her practical questions, like what will the Weather be today, show you the latest mails, and so much more.

But for some people the big search box in the Task Bar might be a bit annoying, especially if you run a lot of programs at the same time, the box consumes quite a lot of space. In this tutorial I will show you how to disable the search box in the taskbar.

Disabling the Search Box

Turning off the search box is really easy, Microsoft has been nice and added a option in the right-click menu of the Taskbar.

1. Right-click an empty location on the taskbar.

2. A menu will show up, hover your mouse over Search

3. A secondary menu will show up, now click on Disabled.

That’s it, the search box is now disabled in Windows 10. To enable it, just repeat the same steps and choose which style search box you want in the menu.
