How to Fix: Windows 10 can’t connect to this network

Some user’s have reported that they receive the message “Windows 10 can’t connect to this network” when they attempt to connect to a wireless network. While the precise fix is unknown we do have suggestions that seem to be working.

Reinstall your Network Card

The best thing to try first is to reinstall your Wireless Network Card in your computer. You can do this by going to device manager, uninstalling your network card and then reboot. Windows will automatically reinstall the correct drivers. If you don’t know how you do this don’t worry and follow the steps below.

1. Right-click the Windows icon in your taskbar and then choose Device Manager

2. Once in Device Manager unfold the Network Adapters section.

3. Right-click on your Wireless Network Card and choose Uninstall Drivers.

You can recognize your wireless network card as it in most cases has something in its name hinting to being a wireless card like Atheros Wireless….

4. Now reboot your computer and wait for Windows to detect and reinstall the Network Card.

If you are still unable to connect to the Wireless Network then try the next step in this guide.

Download the latest drivers

If you are still unable to connect to your network (You still receive Windows 10 can’t connect to this network) then make sure Windows Update didn’t find any newer drivers for your network card and you forgot to install them. If Windows Update did not find newer drivers then check the website of your computer brand and see if they provide newer drivers.

You can also go directly to the site of the network card manufacturer and download the latest drivers there.

Check your network

If you are still unable to connect to your network then make sure that the network is actually functional. Can you connect with your phone to the network or any other device? In case, they can then try to see if your device is able to connect on another network. If you are also unable to connect to other networks can try to see what happens if you refresh your Windows installation. Does it work afterward? In case, it still fails then contact your vendor for  a warranty replacement.

We advise if step one and two did not help you that you visit our forums and ask for support for Windows 10 can’t connect to this network especially considering asking for more help before you reinstall your Windows 10 installation.
