FIX: WLDCore.dll is missing and cannot be found

The error message “WLDCore.dll is missing and cannot be found” is caused by a problem with Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Mail or Windows Live Contacts.

There are a couple of methods of resolving this error message. Below you will find both methods of resolving “WLDCore.dll is missing and cannot be found”.

Reinstallation

The best method to try first is to reinstall / repair the following applications on your computer:

  • Windows Live Messenger
  • Windows Live Mail
  • Windows Live Contacts

1. Open Control Panel by right-clicking on the Windows icon in your taskbar. Then click on Control Panel

2. Once Control Panel has started click on Programs

3. Once Programs has opened, click on Programs and Features

4. Wait for the programs and features list to load, once it’s done loading right-click on Windows Live Messenger (if installed otherwise skip this step) and choose Change, then choose Repair.

5. Once Windows Live Messenger has completed its repair repeat the same steps for Windows Live Mail (if installed otherwise skip this step).

6. Once Windows Live Mail has completed its repair repeat the same steps for Windows Live Contacts (if installed otherwise skip this step).

Once you’ve executed all steps listed above reboot your computer and try to see if the programs is still present. If you still receive “WLDCore.dll is missing and cannot be found” then try the copy and paste method as explained below.

Copy and Paste

The solution was simply copy paste those 2 files wldcore.dll and wldlog.dll from

1. Open Windows Explorer and go to: c:\Program Files\Windows Live\Shared. If you have Windows or the program installed on another hard disk then change the letter c to the correct drive letter.

2. Copy the following 2 files in the shared folder; wldcore.dll and wldlog.dll

3. Open Windows Explorer and go to: c:\Program Files\Windows Live\Messenger if you have Windows Live Messenger installed, once in the folder paste both files you copied in step 2.

3. Open Windows Explorer and go to: c:\Program Files\Windows Live\Contacts if you have Windows Live Contacts installed, once in the folder paste both files you copied in step 2.

4. Open Windows Explorer and go to: c:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail if you have Windows Live Mail installed, once in the folder paste both files you copied in step 2.
