How to check out an document in Word
Begin by opening the document that you want to check-out. Once you’ve done that follow the instructions below.
1. First, begin by clicking on the File button in Word.
2. Then click on Info and then on Manage Document
3. Once there, click on Check Out. This will download a private copy and prevent other people from making changes.
Your document is now checked-out. This means that you have your own private version of the document which people can’t touch till you decide to do so. If you do want them to edit the document again then follow the steps below to check in the document again.
How to check-in the document
Once a document has been checked-out it has to be checked-in again to be editable by other people, or at least your changes.
Once again follow these steps to check-in the document again.
1. First, begin by clicking on the File button in Word.
2. Then click on Info and then on Check In
Once you’ve doen that your changes will be visible by others and they can edit the document again.
