Review: Backup your iPhone using WinX MediaTrans
We haven’t reviewed a lot of products like WinX MediaTrans in the past. We’ve taken a look at some solutions that do the same but not like WinX MediaTrans does it. But lets started at a basic introduction first. WinX MediaTrans is a solution promises to Transfer Photos, Videos and Music between iPhone iPad and Computer better than iTunes does! A bold claim, lets see if there truth behind it.
`We started with the transfer itself. It was as they claim very easy an intuitive to use. The performance is good and the transfer speed was good as well, however in most cases the solution is not the performance bottleneck but the USB cable.
After you’ve transferred your files, music and videos to your computer you will be able to play them all, which is of course not a surprise.
A cool feature they included is the possibility to edit your playlists or create them, edit artist and album information and such. However one feature reminds my of my youth, the possibility to create Ringtones! Brings me back to the time we had to share our ringtones over Bluetooth.
They also packed some really good other features like video optimisation which can reduce your video file up to 50% without losing quality on the iPhone or iPad. However in tests the best we achieved was 37%. However still very good, especially with the limited storage possibilities.
We would score the feature set of the application a solid 9 out of 10. We aren’t missing any feature that we really want. It comes packed with features that all work very well.
Design and Ease of Use
The program itself is very easy to use. It’s intuitive to use, well designed and with a modern look. In my personal opinion the learning curve that users might go trough is very short and within 30 minutes most people will be able to use it with ease.
We would score the ease of use, especially because the tips and the easy big buttons a solid 8.5 out of 10 with little room to improve. We would score the design of the application a 7.5 out of 10. It’s good looking but does not follow the “Windows” standards. Doing so could making the program even easier.
We believe that WinXDVD MediaTranfer does what it says, giving Windows users a easier method to copy their phone or tablet data to their Windows computer. However you should be aware that updating and recovering your iPhone is something only iTunes can do, for all other things, this program replaces it very well. We would score it an overall score of a 8.5 out of 10, giving it a very good mark.
